Personal Safety Survey
Since the age of 15, 32.5% of women (1in3) have experienced inappropriate comments about their body or sex life, compared to 11.7% of men. Since the age of 15, 25.1% of women experienced unwanted sexual touching, compared to 9.9% of men, while 23.6% of women experienced indecent exposure compared to 8.6% of men. One in 5 women and 1 in 20 men have experienced sexual violence since the age of 15 years.
In the twelve months prior to the report:
- 78.2% of women sexually assaulted knew the perpetrator.
- 39% of perpetrators were a family member or a friend
- 21.1% of perpetrators were a previous partner of the victim.
